Service Information

It will be the first B’Nei Mitzvah for some of our young guests. This important Jewish life cycle event is celebrated when a child is 13.

In Judaism, preparing for and leading the congregation in prayer, is referred to as “becoming a Bar/Bat Mitzvah” and represents the beginning of becoming a Jewish adult. A B’Nei Mitzvah is for two children or twins. At our Temple, the service is conducted in both Hebrew and English. Jacqueline and Ari been preparing for this milestone for many years and have worked so hard (hence the celebration!). They will be leading the congregation in morning prayers and Torah reading. Also, they will also share what becoming a Bar and Bat Mitzvah means to them.

A few parents have asked if they can attend the service, or if their kids can attend the service portion of the day - and yes, all are welcome at Temple services.

The service will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Temple Beth- El (70 Orchard Ave., Providence, RI 02906) and will run until about 11:30am

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO TEMPLE?

We ask guests to dress in smart casual for the morning service. For example, young men a blazer and dress pants, or a suit and tie. Many men and boys wear a kippah, also called a yarmulke, and these will be provided special for Jackie and Ari’s service if you’d like one. Many women and girls cover their shoulders for the service with short sleeves, a light sweater or shawl.

KIDDUSH LUNCHEON

Please join us for a Kiddush Luncheon for a light lunch and schmoozing!

This will be located in the Silverman Meeting Hall at Temple Beth-El immediately following the service.

AND THE PARTY CONTINUES…

The party begins at the Squantum Association (947 Veterans Memorial Parkway, East Providence, RI 02915).

Kids can be dropped off directly to the party at 6pm and pick up will be at 10pm.

Attire is party chic and festive!
